Business Not As Usual
It’s safe to say this isn’t quite how we imagined celebrating Open Air’s 30th birthday. In line with the government’s latest announcement of a new lockdown period, our physical Cambridge stores are now closed until December, except for customers collecting Click & Collect orders. But don’t despair, as our Leki and Open Air web stores remain fully open for business, where you can find our full range of products, and benefit from our fast and efficient dispatch. Not only that, we’re also upping our game by making a wider range of our in-store services available online and over the phone.
Ever since March, we’ve had to adapt to various changes in rules and guidance, all the while aiming to bring you the best customer shopping experiences – whether in our Covid-safe Green Street stores, or our online webstores – and amazing service from our knowledgeable team of Open Airists. Over the summer we developed more online content, and introduced remote services, such as our remote footwear fitting services, to benefit those who can’t make it into our store, or prefer not to. Our customer services heroes are still here to answer your emails and live chats, and take your calls, but we’re getting ever busier with enquiries, so we’re adding a new facility to deal with more in-depth queries. You can now book an appointment to speak with one of our experts at a time to suit you, to discuss any of your outdoor gear needs, whether footwear clothing, or equipment. Check out our post here for more details about these remote services in general, and the footwear fitting service in particular.
We’re proudly independent and take advantage of that to carefully select the products we stock. Our Open Airists have been especially excited to receive our new ranges of winter clothing from the likes of Fjällräven, Haglöfs, Rab, Sherpa, and Mammut, with some amazing technical products and funky bright colours. We’re home to the UK’s widest range of Fjällräven south of Manchester, and one of the largest collections of different colours of Kånken backpacks, including the new Re-Wool Kånkens made using recycled wool. We’re really sad that for the time being, you can’t come and visit our store to see it all in person. However you can still browse and order online, where we’ll be putting more information about each product to help you, and please do use one of the many ways to contact us if you need any further advice.
We’re also pleased and proud that our web service has received a lot of positive feedback from our customers, but we’re not resting on our laurels. We’re striving hard to improve efficiency as online orders increase, and continue to ensure that almost all parcels are dispatched either the same or next working day. We’re also aware of the environmental impact of ordering by mail and trying to reduce our footprint by switching to more eco-friendly packaging, where possible.
So thanks to all our wonderful customers – past, present and future – who have supported us and continue to do so! We’re looking forward to welcoming you back in store as soon as we can, and here’s to another 30 years and more!
