A Lighter Side to this Black Friday 2019

One will not have failed to notice that retail businesses have been going through somewhat of a tough time of late. In what has been described as a perfect storm for the High Street, tough times are afoot and with Black Friday this weekend, things are only predicted to get worse for businesses already struggling to cope with the pace of change.

This year, we hope to do something a little different for Black Friday weekend. Along with long-established independent retailer, Millers Music on Sussex Street, we will be donating 1% of our total takings from between Black Friday to the 8th December to charity in what we’re calling Give Back Friday. The charities selected this year will be Rowan Humberstone, a local charity supporting people with learning disabilities located right here in Cambridge and a local charity tackling inequality.

We believe that our shop is about more than just selling and have at our core a firmly instilled philosophy of ‘doing good’. Not only does this extend to supporting our local community but, as outdoor enthusiasts, using the opportunity to draw attention to environmental values. So this Black Friday, we’re advocating for people to embrace the radical notion of spending time with friends and family and taking to the hills this weekend (rather than shopping!).

If you find yourself shopping with us this weekend, you’ll still find some excellent promotions but we believe that great service is consistently delivering value 365 days a year, not just 1. If you have found a better deal elsewhere, our team will be more than happy to discuss options with you.
